Who we are

A real organisation, run by people who go there themselves

Children of Kabale (Les Enfants de Kabale) was created in April 2022 in France by Dominique and Corinne Godin, as a non-profit charity under the French 1901 law, with its own bank account at LCL in France — so donors can give in Europe without transferring money to Africa themselves.

In Kabale, the children are cared for every single day by Nahwera Meron, a young Ugandan woman with a bachelor's degree from the University of Kabale. She has looked after these children since long before we arrived.

Dominique has travelled to Kabale five times since January 2022 to see the situation with his own eyes and to follow up on how funds are used.

What your donation does

Three simple things, every day of the year

Food every day

In early 2022 the children ate on average four meals a week. Feeding is now organised all year, including during school holidays.

School for everyone

Only 10 of 36 children went to school in January 2022. Today all school-age children attend, as half-boarders or boarders.

Water, health, dignity

Clean drinking water, showers with warm water, and medical follow-up for the children who need it. Illness is now rare.

Next step

A house on our own land, above Lake Bunyonyi

We bought and fenced 2,500 m² of land in August 2022. It has water, it is cultivated, and it already produced about one tonne at its first harvest. The plans for a central house and two dormitory buildings for 32 children are validated by an engineer and approved by the authorities in Kampala. The construction budget is around €100,000.

€450 sends a child to school for a whole year

School fees are between €450 per year for a half-boarder and €650 per year for a full boarder. Our total yearly budget is around €25,000 — carried entirely by donors and sponsors like you.
