About & contact

A small association, run by two people and one woman on the ground

There is no head office, no salaries in Europe and no communication agency. That is deliberate: it keeps the money where it belongs.

Dominique Godin, founder

68 years old, married for 38 years, three children. A career in the printing industry from 1982 to 2021 — commercial director from 1998 to 2003, then export director for Africa for a British manufacturer of industrial equipment from 2003 to 2021. Just over 30 African countries visited and followed. Retired since April 2021.

A biker for 49 years, a traveller, and someone who prefers adventure to most other options. He has returned to Kabale in June 2022, February and June 2023, and February 2024 — paying his own travel costs.

The association was founded together with his wife Corinne in April 2022.

Honesty about our status

What we are, and what we are not

  • A non-profit charity registered under the French 1901 law, created in April 2022, with its own bank account at LCL in France.
  • We do not yet have official French recognition of public utility, and we say so openly.
  • Nobody in Europe is paid by the association. Travel to Uganda is paid privately by the founder.
  • The land is registered in Nahwera's name, not ours, because a foreigner cannot own land in Uganda.
  • In the longer term we plan structured associations in both France and Uganda, with Nahwera employed full-time.
